This hotel is famous for its long-standing tradition and celebrity visitors. It is situated in the heart of the old town and close to all main tourist attractions and the Salzach River.
Rooms do vary in size due to the age of the building and range from small to very large. Bedrooms are furnished in provincial style, each with their own special character and individuality. They radiate an unusual atmosphere which makes the hotel unique. Many culinary guides have nominated the restaurant as the very best in Salzburg due to its traditional local dishes and creative cuisine which are presented with the finest Austrian wines.
The hotel is housed in a charming building of baroque style which first opened in 1407 and has always played an important part in the city's historical development. The building was originally an inn. The lobby is medium in size and is adorned with provincial furnishings, hand painted curtains, antique paintings and renaissance locks.
The famous bar of the hotel is actually an enclosed courtyard which displays a collection of magnificent baroque antlers. |
